IG Group's new all-in-one app will absorb its main trading app "in the coming weeks," the company told FinanceMagnates.com this week. The app, to be known simply as IG, is meant to put trading, investing and crypto in one place.

For now, the new app holds investing and crypto accounts. Spread betting and CFD trading still run in the separate trading app until the two merge.

Chief Executive Breon Corcoran told analysts in July that "the biggest unlock this year is our unified proposition." He spoke on the day IG reported first-half results and agreed to buy US prediction markets operator Underdog for about $1.3 billion.

The bet rests on customers using more than one product. In the UK and Ireland, the share of new customers who traded a second product within three months of their first trade rose 67% in the first half from a year earlier, according to IG's results presentation.

IG answered some of FinanceMagnates.com's questions by email and said it plans a formal announcement. Here is what the answers, IG's filings and the app stores show.

1. The New IG App Is the Old IG Invest App

The new app is the listing that used to be IG Invest and now appears as "IG: Stock Investing & Crypto," IG said. The older trading app, listed as "IG: Trading. Investing. Crypto," will converge into it.

That means the smaller app is absorbing the larger one. On Apple's UK App Store on Thursday, the trading app carried about 34,000 ratings and the newer app about 360.

Andy Ensum, head of product at IG, wrote on September 8 that the team had been "rebuilding the entire front-end" to give customers a unified experience.

2. A Summer Launch Still Rolling Out

IG is not the only UK broker merging its apps. CMC Markets set out a three-phase plan in November 2025 to put equities, derivatives, ISAs, SIPPs and CFDs on one UK interface, followed by tokenized assets and then payments and banking.

Plus500 Chief Executive David Zruia told analysts in August that the company plans to go live with a "one-stop shop trading app" next year.

StoneX consolidated at the brand level, retiring City Index in the UK on September 12 and moving new accounts to StoneX Trading.

IG's July presentation said the unified proposition was "launching over summer, initially in the UK." The results statement said roll-out to new customers began in June, with "a full transition next month."

On Monday, IG said it is managing a phased transition that will continue over the next few weeks. It gave no migration figure.

3. Tax-Free Savings Next to Leveraged Trading

ISA, general investment, Junior ISA and crypto accounts already sit in the app's single portfolio view, according to IG. Spread betting and CFD accounts will be added in the coming weeks.

Once those arrive, Junior ISAs, which parents open for their children, will share a portfolio view with leveraged products. Whether that changes how customers use either is the kind of question the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) asks firms to answer under its Consumer Duty rules.

The regulator has already measured how app design shifts behavior. In an FCA experiment with more than 9,000 people, push notifications raised the number of trades 11%, a finding FM Intelligence examined in its analysis of market alerts.

4. Pensions and the Web Come Later

IG said it hopes to add its self-invested personal pension (SIPP) and Smart Portfolios to the app by the end of the year.

The July presentation promised a "single platform for app and web," built to add new products quickly. An updated web experience is the next stage of the rollout and should go live later this year, IG said.

5. No Demo Account Yet

The new app has no demo account. Its Mode Selector and unified portfolio view require a live client profile, and IG said it plans to add demo accounts "in the near future" and offered a walkthrough once they are available.

The launch is starting in the UK. The consumer division that will run the app also takes in Freetrade and the Australian crypto exchange Independent Reserve.

That division is being formed from three regional units, a restructure expected to cost hundreds of jobs across a workforce of about 2,300 at the end of June.
