Raiffeisen Bank International and Bitpanda Enterprise have agreed on a common framework that will allow RBI’s subsidiary banks across Central and Eastern Europe to add digital-asset services to their existing customer platforms.
London's trading industry is coming home!
RBI operates subsidiary banks in 11 CEE markets and reported 18.8 million customers at the end of June. That figure represents the potential reach of the agreement rather than the number of clients receiving crypto access from the outset.
Raiffeisen has not identified the first participating markets or provided a rollout timetable.
Austrian Integration Provides the Model
Bitpanda Enterprise will supply the crypto infrastructure, while participating banks will retain their own applications and customer relationships. This would allow clients to access digital assets through an existing banking platform without opening a separate Bitpanda account.
The arrangement builds on an earlier implementation at Raiffeisenlandesbank Niederösterreich-Wien, or RLB NÖ-Wien, the Austrian regional bank that introduced crypto access through its banking environment using Bitpanda’s technology in 2024.
Instead of developing separate crypto infrastructure internally, participating network banks would be able to adopt a shared technological framework.
The announcement does not specify whether local offerings would include trading, custody, transfers to external wallets or other digital-asset services.
RLB NÖ-Wien belongs to Austria’s broader Raiffeisen banking sector but is separate from RBI’s subsidiary network in Central and Eastern Europe.

Regulation Will Vary across the Network
Bitpanda GmbH received authorisation as a crypto-asset service provider under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation from Austria’s Financial Market Authority in April 2025.
The authorisation covers custody, exchanges involving funds or other crypto assets, order execution and transmission, placement and transfers.
It can support eligible services within the EU, but RBI’s network also includes markets outside the bloc where national requirements would apply. Neither company has disclosed which banks will participate first, when the initial service will launch or which assets will be available.
Fees, custody arrangements and the division of operational responsibilities between Bitpanda and each local bank also remain unspecified.
