Standard Chartered has hired Eric Shaffer as Executive Director of its FX Options division. In ‎his new role, Shaffer will be based in New York, working on formulating ‎thematic research and investment recommendations for G10 and EM Asia ‎currencies, per an FXWeek report.

‎Eric started the role in September 2017, joining Standard Chartered from Citi where he had worked for his entire ‎career, most recently the similar role of director and FX options trader. He joined ‎Citi in 2004 and was also based in New York. Overall, he spent over thirteen years ‎in the FX industry in multiple senior roles.‎

His tenure has also seen him focus on FX options business where, among ‎other roles, he was in charge of trading across the Euro and Canada Options ‎Book from 2015 to 2017, according to information made public on his ‎Linkedin profile.‎

The move is designed to help drive the British bank’s global FX business, part of a broader ‎shift by the lender in the FX space.‎

‎In his new capacity, Shaffer will take an increased leadership role with responsibilities across ‎all FX options products, and with teams across the bank to deepen client relationships and ‎accelerate the growth of Standard Chartered’s FX business. ‎
