Opera Trading Capital operates as a propitiatory arm of BNP Paribas. In his new role at Opera, Mr. Ekblom will work as a Portfolio Manager, where he will be based out of London. Finance Magnates reached out to Mr. Ekblom who was unavailable for additional comment.
Opera Trading Capital recently made headlines with the loss of Paolo Nicolosi, the group’s Head of Foreign Exchange (FX) Alpha Proprietary Trading, after less than a year in the role. Mr. Nicolosi had as the Co-Head of London Branch and Head of FX Alpha Proprietary dating back to July 2015 and also came over from BNP Paribas’ London-based FX desk.
For its part, BNP Paribas has abstained from any widespread personnel shifts across its global business, unlike other lenders such as Deutsche Bank and Standard Chartered. The group’s most recent marquee hire was an addition to its Asia-Pacific (APAC) operations, which saw the appointment of Philippe Benoit as its newest regional head.
