On Monday, Equinix, a digital infrastructure company, announced that it had appointed Fidelma Russo and Jeetu Patel to the Board of Directors. According to the press release, Russo will serve as a member of the Board’s Audit Committee, and Patel will join the Nominating and Governance Committee.

Russo leads the innovation agenda and technology roadmap at HPE, overseeing the design and development of the portfolio of products and services to deliver GreenLake edge-to-cloud customer experiences. Moreover, Patel represents Cisco as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Security and Collaboration. Aside from leading strategy and development, he is responsible for this multibillion-dollar portfolio’s P&L. Patel combines product design and development expertise with operational rigor and market knowledge to help create Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) businesses with high growth potential.

Prior to joining HPE, Russo was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of VMware’s Cloud Services business unit. Additionally, she served on the Supervisory Board of Wolters Kluwer B.V., along with taking on senior leadership roles at Iron Mountain, Inc., EMC Corp., Hewlett-Packard Co. and Sun Microsystems, Inc.

Russo holds a Bachelors of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from University College Cork, a Master’s in Computer Science from Boston University, and has completed the MIT Sloan School of Management’s Internet of Things Executive Education program.

Patel was the Chief Product Officer and Chief Strategy Officer at Box, which was a role he pioneered. In his earlier career, Patel served as the General Manager and Chief Executive at EMC’s newly acquired Syncplicity business unit. Moreover, he served at EMC as the CMO for the Information Intelligence Group and Chief Strategy Officer where he was responsible for the company’s cloud and mobile growth strategy.

Being a graduate of the University of Illinois, Chicago, Patel is currently on the Board of JLL, an American commercial real estate services company.

Recently, Equinix completed the acquisition of four data centers in Chile from Empresa Nacional de Telecomunicaciones S.A. (Entel) to expand in Latin America.
