GreenTree International, Inc., the parent group of the American Cannabis Exchange (Amercanex), has appointed Richard Schaeffer as its newest Chairman and Gordon Rutledge as the acting Vice Chairman of its Board of Directors, whose terms are tendered with immediate effect.

The joint appointments of Mr. Shaeffer and Greenberg are the first major moves for Amercanex since July, when the group named Jim Miller as its newest Chief Technology Officer (CTO). The group has shown a penchant for bringing in Wall Street executives.

The new leadership structure will see Mr. Greenberg stepping into his new role as the Chairman of the Board of Advisors. Furthermore, Thomas Ross is also landing with Amercanex as a member of the GreenTree board. In particular, Mr. Ross joins Amercanex with over three decades of experience across senior trading and Risk Management positions.

He has previously held the role of Head of Trading at BP – North America, having also had several forays in energy consulting. Currently, he is also both the Director and Chairman on Liquid Holdings Group’s board, with previous board experience at the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) Advisory Committee.

According to Steve Janjic, Amercanex Chief Executive Officer (CEO), in a recent statement on the appointments, “The combined experience and knowledge of our board is extraordinary. Richard Schaeffer, the former Chairman of NYMEX, Gordon Rutledge, the former CEO of the Dubai Mercantile Exchange, and David Greenberg, former NYMEX Executive Board member, bring dynamic leadership and a thorough understanding of the marketplace to Amercanex.”
