Prices of peercoin are flying to start the new year to a high of 0.0887 ($6.47) on BTC-e earlier today. We haven’t seen any specific news about peercoin that could be attributing to the news. The price appreciation may be the result of peercoin making the cut on many lists of top alt-coins for 2014 that were published among various bitcoin related websites recently. Also helping has been a stabilization of bitcoin prices which may be bringing back bids to overall digital currencies.
Currently, trading at 0.00869 BTC, peercoin is just off its all-time high set in late November. Worth mentioning is that the current rise hasn’t been based on a lot of volume (based on data from Cryptocoincharts.com, see below). As such, prices could be vulnerable to a selloff if peercoin doesn’t manage to break its all-time and attract new buyers.
