BitPay hires Visa, Jumio executives for San Francisco office

BitPay has hired for two key management positions at its San Francisco office. Formerly Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Jumio, Sonny Singh has been named as Chief Commercial Officer at BitPay to oversee all sales operations. He will be responsible for increasing BitPay's client base of over 40,000 merchants.

Recall that Jumio, a Technology Provider for know-your-client (KYC) operations, was recently brought on by Safello to expedite its customer verification process. Safello offers Europeans multiple payment options to buy bitcoins quickly and easily. Said Tony Gallippi, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of BitPay:

“Sonny’s experience in Silicon Valley makes him the perfect candidate to build out our San Francisco office. While BitPay is used by global enterprises, it’s also designed and priced so technology startups can go live quickly.”

Steve Pratt, formerly Visa's VP of healthcare industry, was hired as Director of Business Development. He is the second Visa executive to have been hired by BitPay. Two months ago, they hired Tim Byun as Chief Compliance Officer. Byun was previously Visa's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) ) and anti-terrorist financing officer.

In addition to the San Francisco additions, the company has hired 13 more in various locations as they look to grow further.
