A 10-day festival dedicated to Bitcoin has come to a close in London's inner city district of Shoreditch.

The festival, called "BlockStock" (a hybrid of Blockchain and Woodstock), educated attendees about Bitcoin and let them pay with it at 12 merchants accepting it for the festival's duration.

The event had six sponsors, including Coinapult, a bitcoin wallet service, which is also sponsoring the "Bit Drop" in Dominica.

One of the co-organizers explained on the Bitcoin UK Media Podcast in July:

"My main motivation for setting up a festival was a noticed there were quite a few programmers, bankers, predominantly in the Bitcoin community … it would just be great to get other people on board and have a little debate about economics and open their eyes to things they've never really thought much about."

Another co-organizer explained that the festival's goal was for people to accept Bitcoin and start seeing it "as normal".
