University of Zurich students launch CoinBlesk, a bitcoin payment mobile app

Students from the University of Zurich have launched a Bitcoin payment mobile app called CoinBlesk.

The open source app allows for the instant transfer of bitcoins between CoinBlesk users using near field communication (NFC) technology. This comes in useful where users have no or poor wireless reception. Only one user needs to be online in order to carry out the transfer.

The app also allows for "instant hedging" by exchanging bitcoins on Bitstamp.

Currently only Android is supported. Any iOS version would first have to go through Apple's approval process.

The university joins a growing number of institutions looking to make Bitcoin more commonplace on campus, including MIT and Simon Fraser University.
