Small business POS system NCR Silver adding Bitcoin support

NCR Silver is adding Bitcoin support to its mobile-capable point of sale solution for small businesses, effective by the end of this year.

According to its website, the company looks to offer a simple, yet sophisticated solution geared towards the needs of small businesses. Its offering also includes inventory management, accounting, reporting, multi-store management and employee management functions.

Customers will be able to pay using an Android or iOS-based app. Said Reggie Kimble, Director of Business Development:

"Gone are the days when cash and cards were the only payment options available to customers shopping at small businesses. Offering bitcoin as a payment alternative allows small businesses the flexibility they need to better serve their growing number of customers who prefer digital payment solutions."

Though its solution is touted as not requiring merchants to put in extra work, clients will first need to sign up with a bitcoin processor and activate the bitcoin option in the back-end to complete the loop.

The company also supports the recently launched Apple Pay.
