Reddit administrator dylan has come out with a proposal in response to the said demand for a bitcoin payment option when advertising on reddit.
In a post on the bitcoin subreddit- and subsequently linked in the potcoin, dogecoin and reddcoin subreddits- dylan suggests a workaround: create an account with buysellads, reddit’s advertising partner, and fund it with bitcoin. From there, pay for ads on reddit.

dylan concedes that this approach is far from ideal. However, it can serve as an initial step towards fulfilling Bitcoiners’ demands in full. Should their demand bitcoin-paid advertising prove strong enough, it is then worthwhile for reddit to develop a dedicated tool for this purpose.
Several subreddits are listed as available for advertising, although ironically, r/bitcoin is not one of them: Cryptocurrency, eSports, Motorsports, Design and Gaming.
Users have indeed pointed this out and mentioned that they won’t be advertising until this is sorted out. dylan says the only option for targeting r/bitcoin alone is with sponsored headlines.
