It is fitting for an organization that works internationally to now accept a currency touted for traversing borders.
Global Impact Investment Vice President, Joseph Mettimano, said the move serves the diverse needs of donors as it aims to grow global philanthropy. “At Global Impact, we are committed to serving the world’s most vulnerable people. Accepting donations in bitcoin gives us another way to do just that and puts us on the cutting edge of fundraising technology,” he said.
The charity also entered into a strategic partnership with Ribbit.me, a rewards program based on blockchain technology. As a preferred charitable partner, Global Impact will receive a percentage of bitcoin rewards.
