CoinTerra Launches First Terahash Miner, Butterfly Moves into Cloud Space

Participants and fans of the crypto-mining technology race will be excited to learn that their toys just got a huge boost of horsepower and Cloud power.

CoinTerra has announced the first sale of its highly anticipated TerraMiner, the first with a capacity of terahash (THS) proportions (1 trillion hashes per second). At peak performance, TerraMiner actually approaches of 2 THS (terahash per second). Even with a price tag of $5999, its shear capacity provides for the lowest capital $ per GHS in the market.

Butterfly Labs has taken a different route, electing to compete based more on crowd-power and less on firepower. They have joined forces with NimbusMining to enable cloud-mining, sparing the hardware-averse miner from dealing with the increasingly complex and resource-intensive world of mining equipment.

Butterfly Labs has not been shy about its move into the cloud space. Jeff Ownby, VP of Marketing said, "We believe that market trends propelling cloud based services elsewhere are also valid in the Bitcoin space, and although Butterfly Labs will continue to sell bitcoin mining equipment to people who want to mine directly, we plan to be an important player in the emerging cloud market, as well."

For NimbusMining, getting one of the foremost mining equipment builders onboard comes at a strategic moment, as mining becomes commonplace even amongst common folk keen to get into the game but clueless when it comes to mining. New miners are joining pools as often as every few seconds. The addition of top-tier hardware into its operation provides NimbusMining a stable facility to successfully cater toward growing demand.
