Coinbase-powered Bitwall Successfully Powers Chicago Sun-Times Paywall

Bitwall, one of the over 4000 apps powered by Coinbase's API, has successfully powered Chicago Sun-Times' Bitcoin -based paywall (a service restricting content to paying users).

The Sun-Times became the first major media outlet to successfully employ microtransactions denominated in bitcoins. Proceeds from the paywall are going to Taproot Foundation, an organization that helps nonprofits access professional services to better make their impact on society.

Coinbase reports that since the February 1st launch, 713 donations have been made, ranging in value from $0.01 to $1000. Each tweet generated by a donation generated an additional 38 visitors to the promotion page.
