Online brokerage FxPro has signed a three year sponsorship deal with Watford FC, sources with knowledge of the matter have confirmed to Finance Magnates. The broker is returning to sports sponsorships after previously supporting Formula 1 teams BMW Sauber and Virgin Racing. Back in 2010 the company was also supporting Aston Villa and Fulham.

FxPro is returning to the UK Premier League this coming season as Main Club Partner of Hertfordshire-based Watford FC. The team and the broker have come to a three-season sponsorship agreement, which is the largest in the football club’s history. FxPro is getting premium front-of-shirt logo display.

Watford FC, that counts Sir Elton John as a former Chairman and Honorary Life-President, will return to the pitch this coming season with Marco Silva as new head coach. The team is aiming for a better logotype on its kit, and one of the world’s leading online brokers as a supporter.

Commenting on the deal, the CEO of FxPro, Charalambos Psimolophitis, said: "We believe in the potential of Watford FC, who have proven themselves time and time again to be one of the most dedicated and driven Clubs in the Premier League. We are delighted to be acting as Main Club Partners and wish Watford FC every success in the coming seasons."

FxPro was one of the first online brokers to sponsor a UK Premier League club. The broker is also expected to invest in community and charitable outreach programmes.

In recent years, football sponsorships have become an attractive way to raise brand awareness. FxPro is continuing its rich history of sports sponsorships that includes deals with the World Rally Championship, the Intercontinental Rally Challenge, rugby teams, and French football team Monaco FC.

Watford FC, also known as The Hornets, returned to the UK Premiership last year and finished the season in 17th spot, after scoring 11 wins. The club secured Marco Silva as new head coach for a period of two years back in May.

The Chairman and CEO of Watford FC, Scott Duxbury, elaborated, "The past few seasons have been particularly successful for the Club both on and off the pitch. By partnering with an award-winning, UK-headquartered company, recognised both for their principled approach to business and for their decade-long leading presence in the financial services industry, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to the values that Watford FC is renowned for around the world."

Watford FC's sponsorship deal with FxPro is not the club's first with a financial services provider. The team previously signed an agreement with Divisa Capital for one year.
