Phil Roach - Chasing Returns' new Global Head of Business Development

Software provider Chasing Returns announced on Wednesday that it has appointed Phil Roach as its Global Head of Business Development.

“I'm delighted to introduce Phil Roach - [the] newest addition to the Chasing Returns team,” wrote Chasing Returns' CEO Ann Hunt on LinkedIn. “Phil is Global Head of Business Development and has extensive experience [working] with both Retail and Institutional brokers.”

Founded in 2014, Chasing Returns provides data analysis services to hedge funds and retail traders. Hunt, who will be speaking at this year’s iFX Expo in Hong Kong, claims the solution helps improve behavioral traits that negatively impact traders’ decision-making process.

Roach joins the firm from Dataminr, a company that scans social media posts and converts them into data that can be used by investors to alter their trading strategy, where he spent two years as a Sales Manager.

Something of a seasoned professional, Roach has worked in the financial services and technology industry for close to twenty years.

From Bloomberg to Chasing Returns

He got his start at Bloomberg back in 2001, selling the company’s equity order routing and Execution management platform to clients in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

After six years with the media and technology giant, Roach moved on to Fidessa, a London-based software provider to the financial services industry.

In a role similar to the one he held at Bloomberg, Roach acted as a Sales Manager, selling Fidessa’s connectivity solutions to clients across the UK and northern Europe.

Six years into that role, Roach jumped ship again, this time moving to FTSE Russell. Spending approximately a year at the data provider, he sold end of day data to buy-side firms.

In 2014, Roach moved to technology giant IBM, working as Buy-Side Sales Manager. Covering the UK and several European countries, Roach sold Risk Management solutions to insurers and asset management companies.

Moving again in 2016 to Dataminr, Roach will now take up his new role as Global Head of Sales for Chasing Returns.
