Capital Wallet Greece today announced it has been granted one of the country's first Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorisations by the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), a milestone that establishes the company as an early leader in Europe's newly harmonised digital-asset market.
The authorisation is more than a regulatory approval. It is a growth platform. Under MiCA's passporting regime, Capital Wallet Greece is now positioned to extend its regulated services across the entire European Union, reaching clients in all 27 member states from a single, supervised base in Athens.
A First-Mover Position as Europe's Transition Window Closes
MiCA has redrawn the map for crypto-asset services in Europe, replacing a patchwork of national regimes with a single rulebook. The transitional period that allowed firms to operate under prior national registrations closed on 1 July 2026. From that date, authorisation is not an advantage but a precondition: firms without it cannot lawfully serve clients in the European Union.
Capital Wallet Greece sits among the comparatively small group of firms that cleared that bar, and it did so with breadth. MiCA defines ten crypto-asset services. The HCMC has authorised Capital Wallet Greece to provide six of them:
Custody and administration of crypto-assets on behalf of clients
Exchange of crypto-assets for funds
Exchange of crypto-assets for other crypto-assets
Execution of orders for crypto-assets on behalf of clients
Reception and transmission of orders for crypto-assets on behalf of clients
Transfer services for crypto-assets on behalf of clients
Together these permissions allow the company to serve retail and professional clients across the full lifecycle of a crypto-asset holding, from acquisition and exchange through to secure custody and transfer, entirely within a regulated framework.
"This authorisation is a defining moment for us," said Mr. Evangelos Tanampasidis, CEO, Capital Wallet Greece. "We set out to build a crypto-asset business on institutional-grade regulatory foundations, and the HCMC's decision validates that strategy. With MiCA, we now have a licence to grow, across Greece, and the EU. Our focus turns to scaling our services, expanding our client base, and setting the benchmark for what a regulated European crypto provider should be."
"Early authorisation under MiCA is a strategic asset," said Sandy Samra, Shareholder of Capital Wallet Greece. "It positions the company at the front of the European market at exactly the moment that market is being formed. We see significant long-term value in building from a regulated Greek base into the wider EU market, and we are committed to backing that expansion."
Capital Wallet Greece will pursue a phased European expansion under MiCA's passporting framework, alongside continued investment in its platform, compliance infrastructure, and client offering, all under the ongoing supervision of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission.
