LSEG has been appointed a Super Validator on the Canton Network, expanding its existing role through its Digital Settlement House cash application.
LSEG said the appointment builds on its role as a validator and follows DiSH’s technical launch earlier this year. Canton is a privacy-enabled blockchain network designed for institutional financial markets.
London's trading industry is coming home!
The appointment comes as financial institutions expand their use of blockchain networks for settlement and capital markets activity. Finance Magnates previously reported that Lloyds completed a tokenised deposit transaction on Canton, where it operates a validator node. Societe Generale has also used Canton for a US dollar-denominated digital bond.
Separately, LSEG has used blockchain infrastructure for fundraising through the London Stock Exchange.
LSEG Uses DiSH for Digital Settlement
Bud Novin, Head of DiSH, Post Trade Solutions at LSEG, said the service is being used to demonstrate how regulated institutions can move value within a controlled framework.
“DiSH is already demonstrating how regulated institutions can move value digitally within a trusted governance and controls framework,” Novin said.

He added that the Super Validator role would allow LSEG to support the Canton ecosystem and its use across LSEG businesses and clients.
DiSH is designed to support institutional settlement and commercial bank money solutions. LSEG said it can serve as a gateway for settlement across multiple blockchains while working alongside banks and existing market infrastructure.
Participants on Canton have used DiSH cash to settle intraday repos in proof-of-concept projects. The transactions provide an alternative to non-cash tokens such as stablecoins for settlement.
Canton Develops Cross Market Connectivity
In its new role, LSEG will support Canton’s infrastructure and network governance and collaborate with other participants. It also plans to bring additional services to the network to support its development and adoption across global markets.
Viv Diwakar, Head of the Canton Foundation, said LSEG’s appointment would expand the network’s reach across capital markets, post-trade and payments .
“LSEG joining the network deepens our global reach across capital markets, post-trade and payments,” Diwakar said.
He said the focus would be on turning that connectivity into practical benefits for market participants and reducing friction across markets.
