Hackers Shut Down Polish Regulator KNF’s Website

Hackers brought down the website of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) in a cyber-attack believed to be “from another country" and the first ever to result in a service outage, according to a KNF spokesman.

The Polish regulator said that it is probing a suspected cyber attack targeting its internal website systems which was discovered earlier today. The country’s law enforcement authorities have already been informed.
KNF spokesman Jacek Barszczewski commented: "Internet website www.kng.gove.pl has been switched off by the administrators of KNF in order to secure evidence. KNF remains in contact with representatives of regulated sectors, including banking, whose activity is not threatened."
He was also quoted as saying: "Internal reporting systems function independently from the system operating the website and remain safe."
