Developers can sell cBots, indicators and plugins through four recurring billing periods.
TradingView uses monthly creator bundles, while MetaTrader Market combines permanent purchases with fixed-term rentals.
Spotware has added recurring subscriptions to cTrader Store, expanding the marketplace beyond one-time purchases. Developers can now sell access to cBots, indicators and plugins through weekly, monthly, six-month or annual payments.
The company launched cTrader Store in December 2024 as a marketplace for trading algorithms and platform extensions. Spotware said in July that the Store listed more than 2,000 products and received over 10,000 visits per day.
cTrader Adds Subscriptions
Sellers can create one plan for each available billing period and combine subscriptions with a permanent purchase price, according to cTrader Store documentation. A product can therefore remain available through a one-time payment while also offering shorter access periods.
Before the update, sellers could distribute products for free or charge a one-time price. They could also use promotional pricing and provide restricted trial versions to prospective customers.
A permanent purchase is linked to the buyer's cTrader ID and includes subsequent versions supplied by the developer without additional charges. The Store encrypts the product and issues a protected copy tied to the buyer's account.
Sellers can change a plan, but the Store archives the previous version. Existing subscribers retain their original price and billing terms until they cancel, rather than moving automatically to the revised plan.
The Store's published commission is 30% on all paid products. Its documentation does not disclose a separate rate for subscription renewals.
Aleksei Kozlov, General Manager of cTrader Store
"Subscriptions mark a meaningful shift for cTrader Store," Aleksei Kozlov, General Manager of cTrader Store, said. "They make premium products easier to access, create more growth opportunities for sellers and brokers and open a new commercial path for multi-platform plugins."
TradingView introduced Paid Spaces on Nov. 12, 2025, giving selected Pine Script developers a native way to charge for their work. Each approved author can place as many as 25 indicators and strategies in one monthly subscription.
TradingView manages billing, renewals and access automatically. Users can cancel from their account settings and retain access until the current billing period ends, according to the Creator Program terms.
The program is more selective than cTrader Store. Participation is limited to approved authors who have a Premium or Ultimate TradingView plan and publicly available invite-only scripts.
TradingView currently charges a 0% platform fee on Paid Space transactions until at least Oct. 1, 2026. The company may introduce a fee after that date with advance notice to authors.
It also handles price changes differently. When a Paid Space author changes the monthly price, the new amount applies to existing subscribers from their next billing cycle. cTrader preserves the existing subscriber's terms until cancellation.
The products are packaged differently as well. TradingView sells access to a creator's collection of scripts, while each cTrader subscription currently covers an individual cBot, indicator or plugin.
MetaTrader Market Uses Fixed-Term Rentals
MetaQuotes has offered another variation of temporary access for more than a decade. In February 2015, MetaTrader Market added one, three, six and 12-month rental periods for Expert Advisors and indicators, as Finance Magnates reported at the time.
Current MQL5 Market listings continue to combine permanent purchases with product rentals. Some Expert Advisors are available for one or six months, while other sellers offer only a permanent license.
MetaQuotes binds an authorized product copy to the buyer's equipment and operating system. Buyers receive subsequent product upgrades without additional charges, including when a seller removes the original listing from the public marketplace.
The MQL5 Market rules set a 20% operational fee and a minimum price of $30 for paid products. Unlike cTrader Store, MQL5 Market excludes returns on product purchases.
MQL5 rentals and cTrader subscriptions should not be treated as identical products. MQL5 sells access for a defined rental term, while cTrader describes an automatically recurring payment that continues until cancellation.
Subscriptions Target Service-Based Plugins
The commercial difference becomes more relevant when a trading tool depends on continuing services rather than a static installation. Spotware said plugins using live data, AI processing or frequently updated content can create infrastructure and support costs after the initial sale.
The company's AI Assistant is one example. The multi-platform plugin lets users query their balances, margin, open positions, trading history, prices and market news from within cTrader.
Subscriptions connect the developer's revenue to continuing access, rather than requiring new permanent-license sales to cover maintenance. For traders, they reduce the initial payment, although repeated charges may exceed the permanent purchase price over time.
Spotware plans to extend the model through paid seller spaces that combine several products under one subscription. This would bring cTrader closer to TradingView's bundle structure.
The company also plans purchases from within cTrader Mobile, allowing traders to find and buy plugins and cBots without leaving the application. Spotware did not provide launch dates for either feature or disclose how many products supported subscriptions at launch.
