Plus500 Renews Partnership Deal as Official Main Sponsor of Atlético Madrid

The online brokerage has extended its sponsorship of Spain's Atlético de Madrid Football Club for the 2017/18 season.

Plus500 today announced that it has extended its sponsorship agreement with Club Atlético de Madrid which will see the brokerage become the main sponsor for the 2017/18 season. Plus500 first became the Official Main Sponsor of Atlético in January 2015 in a collaboration that has been a success for both parties.

Plus500, whose share price went into free fall last month after the UK regulator launched a clampdown on CFD firms, continues to increase its drive to boost business via a series of sponsorships including the recent deal signed with “Brumbies” Australian Rugby Union Team, as reported by Finance Magnates back in December.

With today’s extension, Plus500 will continue to enjoy a range of branding rights as well as a host of other sponsorship benefits.

Spanish Football League

Atlético Madrid is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid that plays in La Liga Santander, commonly known as ‘La Liga’, which is the top professional football division of the Spanish football league. The club has won ten La Liga titles, and the Copa del Rey on ten occasions along with other Spanish cup competitions. It is also one of the most successful clubs in Europe, winning the UEFA Super Cup in 2010 and 2012, and reaching the finals in the 2013/14 and 2015/16 UEFA Champions League.

Atlético Madrid is based at the Vicente Calderón stadium in the Spanish capital, which has a capacity of 55,000. In 2017 Atlético Madrid will be moving to the new, state of the art Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid that will have a capacity of around 68,000.

According to UEFA, La Liga has been the strongest league in Europe over the past six years as well as the top league in Europe for more years combined (16 years) than any other European league. In addition, it is one of the most popular professional sports leagues in the world, with the third-highest average match attendance figures for 2013/14 of any professional association football league and eighth-highest of any domestic professional sports league worldwide.
