Bitstamp is now the larger side of Robinhood’s reported crypto activity. The company completed the acquisition in June 2025, gaining an exchange with institutional clients, API infrastructure and more than 50 licences and registrations across several markets.

Robinhood has since also used the acquired business for geographic expansion. Its recently launched UK crypto service, which offers more than 50 digital assets, is provided through Bitstamp UK.

Platform Assets Rise as Trading Mix Shifts

Other trading categories moved in different directions in August. Equity notional volume reached $335.4 billion, up 1% from July and 68% year over year.

Options activity fell 10% month over month to 292.5 million contracts but remained 50% above the previous year. Event-contract activity declined 23% from July to 4.7 billion contracts, although the figure was 15 times the August 2025 level.

Robinhood ended August with 28.6 million funded customers, about 120,000 more than in July and 1.9 million more than a year earlier. Total platform assets rose 8% month over month to $383.7 billion, while net deposits for August amounted to $4 billion.

The reported crypto figures exclude Robinhood Chain volumes. The company also cautioned that its latest monthly data are preliminary, unaudited and subject to its financial closing procedures.
