Micro blogging social networking platform Twitter is going full steam ahead with its Ecommerce plans and recently acquired mobile payment company CardSpring.
The news of the acquisition comes only a few weeks after Twitter was seen testing a new “Buy Now” button on certain tweeted listings from Ecommerce website Fancy. According to Twitter’s advertising team the acquisition of CardSpring will integrate nicely into the company’s already established product recommendation scheme.
“At Twitter, we will continue to grow the adoption of our platform and work with our publisher, financial, and retail partners to create new, innovative commerce experiences for consumers,” stated a Twitter blog post.
CardSpring is mostly known for its API which gives developers the ability to create online applications for credit cards, debit cards, prepaid cards, and other payment options, such as loyalty and reward cards.

The news of the acquisition comes extremely close to Facebook’s announcement of a Buy button on suggested sponsored posts.
