E-merchant protection is brought to PayPal customers ahead of schedule.

In a campaign to protect online sellers from fraud related penalties and to encourage offline retailers to bring their goods into the e-commerce sphere, PayPal’s customers in Australia, New Zealand, India, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand will be able to take advantage of PayPal’s protection: from October, PayPay will take financial responsibility for fraudulent activity in cases where correct practice and shipping can be proved by the merchant.

PayPal Australia MD Jeff Clementz is reported saying: “We realize that businesses are actually the biggest target for fraud… The next big evolution for us is to help retailers to scale their businesses online and on mobile by protecting them against this sort of activity.”
