OpenAI has launched a finance-focused version of ChatGPT for analysts, bankers and other institutional users. The tool combines the model with market data, company filings and source-backed research features.

The release comes as OpenAI tries to make corporate use of ChatGPT a larger part of its business.

What Comes with ChatGPT for Financial Services

The new product will run on GPT-6 Astra and include data from providers such as Daloopa, PitchBook and LSEG News, OpenAI wrote in a blog post on Thursday. The datasets will cover earnings transcripts, financial statements and company fundamentals.

The company says the tool will help analysts and finance teams trace figures and check outputs against source material.

“We’re effectively teaching ChatGPT to research like an analyst and back up its conclusions like an analyst,” said Nick Turley, VP of product at OpenAI.

The current version of the tool will use GPT-6 Astra, while newer models will replace it as soon as they become available.

OpenAI Looks Beyond Consumer Use

Earlier this year, OpenAI said ChatGPT had more than 1 billion weekly users. The company also said 2.5 million businesses had integrated its tools.

According to OpenAI Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar, the company’s consumer and enterprise businesses were nearly evenly split, making corporate users a key part of its revenue base.

In June 2026, OpenAI launched its Partner Network and committed $150 million to building a partner ecosystem. The programme is designed for firms that sell, integrate and deploy OpenAI products. OpenAI said it planned to certify 300,000 consultants through the network by year-end.

Finance AI Is Already Crowded

OpenAI is entering a market where finance-specific AI tools are already being sold by model developers, data providers and trading technology companies.

Anthropic offers specialised agents and integrations for banking teams. Startups such as Shortcut and Endex are targeting narrower workflows, including financial modelling and analyst tasks.

In trading, brokers and infrastructure providers have also been adding AI features. Binance, MetaQuotes and other firms have introduced tools for market analysis, trading support or customer workflows.

For OpenAI, the finance product gives ChatGPT a more specific role inside institutions that already use financial data terminals, research platforms and internal compliance systems.

Adoption will depend on whether the tool can provide traceable outputs, fit existing controls and give finance teams enough reason to add another layer to their workflow.
