Oval Money’s Daniel Gladding Joins eToro as Chief Risk Officer

Daniel Gladding, the Group Chief Risk Officer at Oval Money, the fintech company that operated the now-defunct FX/CFDs brokerage, OvalX, has joined eToro in the same role. Gladding announced his appointment at the UK branch of the Israeli social trading network on Tuesday through LinkedIn.

“Excited to be working in the world of zero commission stocks, real crypto, derivatives, copy trading, debit cards, e-wallets and much more!” Gladding wrote on LinkedIn.

OvalX Ex-execs Shop for New Roles

The senior executive is the latest former staff at Oval Money and OvalX to take up new roles at other trading firms after the brokerage shut down its operations in March and sold its client books to rival Capital.com. Gladding brings nearly two decades of experience to the new role at eToro.

Last month, two former OvalX seniors, Nicole Simpson and Tony Adams, moved to BidX Markets and Alvar Financial, respectively. A third ex-employee, Ella Hacer Gumus, who served at Oval Money, joined Trade Nation. In addition, Mark Foulds, who worked as the Head of Spread betting Sales at OvalX for over two decades, joined Alvar Financial.

eToro’s New Chief Risk Officer

Meanwhile, Gladding joins eToro as the Chief Risk Officer after two and a half years of risk management at Oval Money. Previously, he worked for Admirals, StoneX and IG, among others.

Between December 2019 and November 2020, Gladding was the Head of Risk at Admirals where he helped to establish a new risk function at the UK subsidiary of the Estonia-based FX/CFDs brokerage. Before then, the executive worked senior roles at London-based brokerage, Capital Index, first serving as the Global Head of Risk and later as the Chief Operating Officer.

At StoneX, Gladding worked as the Vice President of Risk Management and Quantitative Analytics for nearly six years between 2012 and 2017. Before that, he was the Manager of the Binary Options Desk at GFT Global Markets UK Limited.

Gladding started out his career in 2004 at IG Group where he worked for five years until 2008. At the brokerage, he first worked as a Market Maker for the FX, equities and futures desk before specializing in vanilla and binary options.
