Global Markets Group Limited (GMG), an FCA-regulated Forex broker, has appointed Alex Iakobachvili as its Chief Executive Officer. According to information on Linkedin, he joined the company this month.

Iakobachvili, who is also Managing Director of the firm, was most recently the Vice President of Sales at Global Market Index Limited (GMI), a B2B broker. Despite the similar name, the two companies are not connected.

With more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector in senior roles, Iakobachvili brings a wealth of knowledge to the firm. Before GMI, where he worked for five months, he was Vice President CFH Clearing Limited, a brokerage firm. Here, he worked for almost eight years, in London.

Between March 2010 and December 2012 Iakobachvili worked at Squared Financial Services Ltd, a full-service broker. In this position he was based in Dublin.

Iakobachvili also worked in forex institutional sales at London Capital Group for just under a year. He held senior roles at Thomson Reuters, where he was Director of Bank Sales, and at IDEAglobal, where he was Senior Account Manager. Back in 1995, he was also Director of Targetpoint Limited for two years, based in London.

Iakobachvili attended City, University of London between 1994 and 1995 where he was studying under the Royal Society Kapitza Fellowship. According to his LinkedIn, Iakobachvili has achieved a PhD.

Global Markets Group was established in 2015 and offers direct market access to the forex and CFD markets. This is achieved through a variety of platforms. The firm is based in London and is now one of the fastest growing brokers worldwide. It has clients located across the globe in Europe, Asia, South America, Africa and Australasia.
