Mastercard has picked Ellen Jackowski, an industry veteran with over 15 years of experience in the corporate sector, as the company’s Chief Sustainability Officer to accelerate the integration of its ESG strategy into the organization.

In an official announcement, Mastercard highlighted a significant jump in the company’s ESG efforts. Mastercard is planning to utilize Jackowski’s broad experience in climate action, human rights and digital equity for the company’s growth.

The joining of Jackowski, which is effective from 25 July, will help Mastercard achieve its Environmental, Social and Governance goals. Jackowski has joined the financial services provider from HP where she worked for more than 14 years. In her latest role, she served in the position of Chief Impact Officer and Head of Sustainable Impact.

“We are excited to welcome Ellen as our new Chief Sustainability Officer. She is widely regarded as a leader and innovator on ESG, and we look forward to her working with partners across the company to take Mastercard to the next level in our ESG efforts,” said Mike Froman, the Vice Chairman and President of Strategic Growth for Mastercard.

Last week, Mastercard announced the appointment of Vivian Zhou as Corporate Treasurer. Additionally, the company strengthened its MENA East team in June 2022 with key appointments.

Broad Experience

In her career, Jackowski has served in a wide range of roles related to management and consulting. Shamina Singh, the Founder and President of the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, said that Jackowski’s experience and Mastercard’s expanded ESG efforts will play an instrumental role in the company’s expansion strategy.

“I’m a big believer that actions carry much more weight than words,” said Jackowski. “Mastercard has shown over the past several years just how seriously it takes its commitments and the immense impact it can deliver. I’m excited to be joining a team that’s rising to the moment and creating a more just and inclusive world.”
