If you follow Forex news portals, one of the fastest growing sites over the last few years has been ForexLive. Founded by Jamie Coleman and Gerry Davies in partnership with broker FXDD, the portal gained a reputation for straight forward and reputable analysis while authors were also involved with their reader community which created an engaging experience. The result was that even with the website’s non-flashy appearance, ForexLive developed what is belived to be the longest ‘time on site’ of users at larger portals, with a 30 minute average.

Moving from the site, original founders Coleman and Davies have recently launched FxBriefs. Explaining his decision to leave, Coleman wrote on FxBriefs that due to constraints with the FXDD partnership as well as a weak year of advertising in 2012, a decision was made to create a new independent company. Coleman summed it up “Stay in a situation where we had little ability to control our own destiny or break free and start fresh. We chose the later route. While there is no certainty of success, Gerry and I would rather rely on our own instincts than to rely on the business acumen of others.”

Explaining what FxBriefs is about, Coleman told Forex Magnates that they were going to utilize much of the same methodology that made ForexLive popular, but they will also be adding trading tools to the site and said:

“FxBriefs helps traders make (and just as importantly, save) money by keeping them abreast of the latest market news and analysis. Not sure what to make of the latest headlines impacting the Forex market? FxBriefs has you covered, filtering the mind-numbing array of headlines and market gossip into a digestible format. Short, sweet and thankfully, Brief. FxBriefs is staffed by folks who have been participants in and professional observers of markets for decades. Former traders at some of the world’s largest banks all, and analyst at some of the market’s most respected firms, we combine experience and judgement to help you navigate the often choppy waters of the global FX markets. Our job is to get there before the rest of the pack and help define the themes that will evolve into market trends. Don’t wait for tomorrow morning’s paper to find out what happened in the markets today. Find out, as it happens. At FxBriefs, we’re first, we’re fast and we like to have fun. We’re not some newswire, droning on without the slightest bit of perspective as to what’s important and what is not. Along the way, we may poke fun at a finance minister or central banker, or two. We’re not above illustrating a point with a whimsical graphic or a YouTube video. We pioneered the format, dating back to 2007.”
