Greg Lunz, the former Head of eFX for Asia Pacific at Velocity Trade, has joined Sydney-headquartered forex and contracts for differences (CFDs) broker Axi as its Head of New Product Innovation and Growth.
Lunz took up the Sydney-based role in July 2026, ending his four-year tenure at Velocity Trade. His appointment brings extensive experience in electronic FX trading, risk management and liquidity to the retail brokerage.
It remains unclear which products Lunz will oversee at Axi or whether the broker plans to launch any new offerings under his leadership.
Over Two Decades in Financial Markets
Before joining Axi, Lunz served as Head of eFX for APAC at Velocity Trade between August 2022 and July 2026.
Earlier, he spent nearly six and a half years at Global Prime, another Australia-based brokerage, as Head of Risk and Liquidity. He joined the company in October 2015 and remained there until March 2022.
His experience also extends to the institutional banking sector. Between October 2010 and March 2015, he worked in Global Markets Risk at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London.
Lunz began his career in the financial markets as a Fund Analyst at London-based ECM Asset Management, where he worked for nearly three years between August 2007 and April 2010.

Axi's Expanding Trading Business
Axi is an established name in the retail forex and CFD trading industry. Founded in 2007 as AxiTrader, the brokerage later rebranded as Axi as it expanded its international operations.
The broker offers trading services across several asset classes, including currencies, commodities, indices and cryptocurrencies, through its international entities, subject to local regulations.
Alongside its traditional brokerage business, Axi has expanded into prop trading through Axi Select, offering traders access to progressively larger amounts of trading capital.
Lunz's appointment comes as the broker continues to operate across retail trading and trader-focused services. However, Axi has not publicly detailed how his new product innovation and growth responsibilities will fit into its broader strategy.
