ATFX Hires Swissquote’s Gonzalo Canete as Global Chief Market Strategist

ATFX, an online forex and CFD brokerage firm, has appointed Gonzalo Canete, a former executive at Swissquote, as its Global Chief Market Strategist. Canete joins ATFX after almost 10 years at Swissquote and brings nearly two decades of experience to the new role.

Canete announced his new appointment through LinkedIn on Monday. Before his departure from Swissquote, Canete served for over five years as the Head of Desk and Associate Director. In addition, he served the Switzerland-based forex and CFDs brokerage firm as the Senior Business Manager and Head of Education.

ATFX Canete Boasts Wide Industry Experience

Outside of Swissquote, Canete has worked with a number of other online trading services providers, including Saxo Bank, CMC Markets, Hanseatic Brokerhouse Gmbh and Bankerinter. Additionally, he has worked at Banco Popular, Opener and Caixa Bank.

Before joining Swissquote in 2013, Canete worked briefly for a year at Saxo Bank for its client trading services team, providing market analysis for Spanish media and trading support for institutional partners. He also provided dealer services for CFDs, forex, futures, exchange-traded funds and stock markets at the Danish investment firm.

Between November 2011 and November 2012, Cantete was a Sales Executive and Market Analyst at CMC Markets, providing market analysis for Spanish media and preparing training programmes for the online trading provider’s customers and investors.

In April 2010, the executive assumed the role of Head of Trading Desk at Hanseatic Brokerhouse Financial Services GmbH, an online trading service provider. At the brokerage, he handled client trading services and was the main contact person with the firm’s Hamburg and London dealing desks , among other duties.

Between June 2005 and April 2010, Canete worked various short stints including a four-month role as an Insurance Agent at the International Sales Department of Bankinter, and another four-month role as an Informant and Seller of Investment Opportunities on Stock Markets at Opener.

In addition, he worked other short stint roles at the risk department at Banco Popular, a top banking group in Spain; and with the investment advice team at Caixa Bank, a Spanish multinational financial services company.
