Microsoft to Sponsor Ethereum Foundation’s Devcon2 Event in Shanghai

Microsoft again shows support for the Ethereum blockchain.

The Ethereum Foundation has announced today that Microsoft will be the premiere sponsor of its Devcon2 event, an Ethereum developers conference to be held in the Chinese mega-city of Shanghai, in September 2016.

The creator of the cryptocurrency and the Ethereum Foundation’s Chief Scientist, Vitalik Buterin, noted: “We are very happy to have Microsoft’s sponsorship for Devcon2 and highly appreciate their continued support and collaboration with the Ethereum Foundation and the Ethereum ecosystem. We look forward to continuing to work together in the future.”

Azure is Microsoft’s cloud-based business service, which supports multiple programming languages and provides for the creation of custom applications on Microsoft’s infrastructure. On October 2015 Azure added Ethereum support with the goal of allowing developers to easily experiment with new applications such as smart contracts, without them having to build the infrastructure from scratch or requiring an in-depth knowledge of cryptocurrency. Banks and insurance companies are among the targeted clientele.
