Brave Releases Binance Integration to All Desktop Browser Users

Privacy-oriented browser Brave is expanding its cryptocurrency capabilities with its newest update (version 1.8) provides the Binance integration widget to all desktop browser users. The new feature has been already available into Brave’s Nightly desktop version since March and today is being released for the general desktop browser, but the company didn’t set a particular date for availability on mobile platforms.

The integration with the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange allows Brave users to buy, trade and receive crypto assets directly on the new tab page.

The announcement further details: “In order to interact with their Binance account, a user must first connect the Binance widget to Binance, which is done by clicking the “Connect” button on the widget itself. Once this button has been clicked, a window appears, and the user is prompted to authenticate with Binance. Once successfully authenticated, the Binance widget is fully operable. Any assets held by Binance are enumerated at this time. Because the Binance widget is built into the Brave desktop browser and is not a loaded iframe (remotely embedded document), it is designed to preserve the user’s privacy.”

How will Brave generate revenue from Binance?

According to the announcement, the cooperation is an important step in Brave’s strategy to boost the adoption of cryptocurrencies and facilitate their access for its users.

Binance touts this integration as a new milestone for cryptocurrency adoption. Brave’s pro-privacy browser, which was co-founded by creator of Javascript and ex-Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich, boasts more than 13 million users and has been designed to block ads and website trackers to offer a faster and more private browsing experience.

Both companies didn’t reveal the business aspects of the partnership. But browsers like Brave typically generate revenue based on how much traffic they send to search engines or other sites.
