TMX Insights Taps John Willock as Director of TMX Datalinx

The Canada-based exchange operator under the TMX Group today appointed John Willock as Director of TMX Datalinx at TMX Insights, a sub-division of TMX Markets, effective September 26, 2016.

Reporting directly to Eric Sinclair, President of TMX Market Insights and Head of Information Services at TMX Group, Mr. Willock will be charged with managing the suite of TMX Datalinx real-time products and services, including equities, derivatives and TMX Information Processor feeds.

TMX Insights is an integrated set of capabilities that provide financial content, tools and applications, as well as capital markets analytics. The suite features Risk Management tools such as Razor Risk and TMX Security Risk Ratings, real-time options analytics, as well as eXplore TMX Innovation Lab.

Willock joins TMX from Nasdaq, having most recently served as Managing Director of Global Data Sales. During his tenure at the leading U.S. exchange, He was responsible for integration, strategy and sales for the data business of Nasdaq's Chi-X Canada acquisition. In addition, he has extensive experience in market data and Blockchain technology, having worked as an adviser to Skry Inc., a blockchain analytics and intelligence firm.

Earlier in his career, John was a mainstay at Nordic OMX Exchange, before its acquisition by Nasdaq in 2008, where he headed its Finland office in Helsinki. According to information displayed on a LinkedIn profile, Mr. Willock holds a M.Sc. in Economics from the Helsinki School of Economics.

According to Eric Sinclair in a recent statement on the appointment: “John brings vast international experience in market data to the TMX Market Insights team. We are extremely excited to have him join TMX and look forward to incorporating his unique perspective into how we approach our business going forward."
