SIX Swiss Exchange Reports Trading Turnover of CHF 97.8 Billion in June

Yesterday, the SIX Swiss Exchange posted its trading metrics for June 2022. During the mentioned period, the platform witnessed a dip in trading turnover as the number reached CHF 97.8 billion, which is 10.7% lower compared to the prior month.

The total number of trades stood at 4,919,123, which is down almost 10.6% compared to May 2022. According to the details published by the SIX Swiss Exchange, the highest trading turnover on a single day was recorded on 17 June.

For H1 2022, the exchange witnessed a marginal increase of 1.6% in trading turnover compared to the same period in 2021.

“During the first half of the year 2022, trading turnover on SIX Swiss Exchange reached a total of CHF 705.6 billion, 1.6% more than in the corresponding period in 2021. The highest turnover on a single trading day was recorded on 17 June, which saw securities worth a total volume of CHF 9.9 billion changing hands. The highest number of trades was recorded on 16 June, with 325,208. The stock that generated the highest turnover during the reporting month was NESTLE N with CHF 9.7 billion; NESTLE N was also the most traded stock with 284,360 transactions,” SIX highlighted.

In May 2022, SIX Swiss Exchange welcomed Virtu ITG Europe Limited as a new trading participant.

Crypto Products

Global interest in digital assets surged during the first half of 2022. Despite the recent decline in crypto prices, exchanges that are offering crypto-related products have witnessed a decent jump in the overall trading turnover during the past 6 months. For June, trading turnover across products at SIX with digital currencies as undelryings reached CHF 170.5 million.

“In total, 201 products were traded and 13,562 transactions concluded. The highest turnover was recorded by AETH, an ETP on Ethereum, with CHF 22.4 million; the most transactions were recorded also by AETH, with 2,745 trades,” SIX Swiss Exchange added.
