FP Markets has appointed Haris Sergiou as Global Head of Business Development, giving the former Doo Group director responsibility for its worldwide business development strategy as the CFD broker continues its expansion into new markets.

The company said Sergiou will lead the global strategy and help broaden its reach. He said he plans to work with FP Markets’ international teams, strengthen them and pursue new opportunities during the broker’s next stage of growth.

Sergiou Brings MENA and Asia Experience

Sergiou joins after serving as Doo Group’s Business Development Director in Dubai from January 2024. In that position, he oversaw sales strategies and teams across MENA and parts of Asia, including Japan, the Philippines, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, as well as key introducing broker relationships.

Before joining Doo Group, he spent about a year outside retail trading as Director of Business Development at Cyprus-based electric-vehicle charging company Faraday EVCS.

Earlier, Sergiou spent three years at XM, serving as Country Manager for Business Development in Dubai between March 2020 and February 2023.

“A lot to build, a lot to achieve, and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead,” Sergiou wrote in announcing the move on LinkedIn.

Previous Global Head Stayed Less Than a Year

The appointment comes less than nine months after FP Markets named Elias Aaraj to the same position in December 2025. Aaraj’s LinkedIn profile indicates that his tenure at FP Markets ended in July, although he has not listed a subsequent role. The latest announcement did not address his departure.

Aaraj’s has an extensive background with industry heavyweights. Before joining FP Markets, he spent nearly eight years at Tickmill, culminating in a C-level role, and previously worked at Saxo Bank for three years.

Sergiou, by contrast, brings more recent experience from the MENA and Asian markets through his role at Doo Group, suggesting a potential strategic shift in FP Markets' regional focus.

The new appointment comes amid expansion and internal restructuring. In January, the Australian-headquartered broker said it planned to enter new regions and emerging markets while expanding its financial technology, tools and product range.

In April, FP Markets told Finance Magnates that a broader organisational review affected less than 7% of its global workforce. Group Head of HR and People Culture Christina Koro said at the time that some roles had changed or been consolidated.

At the same time, the firm continued hiring in areas aligned with its strategic priorities. Founded in Sydney in 2005, the multi-regulated broker had more than 300 employees globally as of mid-2025, including over 100 in Cyprus.
