  • The broker has obtained a licence from Cambodia's Securities and Exchange Regulator, which authorised it to operate in the country as of August 12.
  • The new license comes as the broker's 24/7 gold trading instrument surpassed 2,000 active users in its first month, though it still trails crypto assets in volume.

CXM has obtained a licence in Cambodia, which is becoming an attractive country for many brokers in Southeast Asia. The Securities and Exchange Regulator of Cambodia (SERC) granted the broker a licence on 12 August 2026, Finance Magnates has learned. The new licence also came when the broker expanded its product range, including a new around-the-clock gold instrument that has been picking up traders since its recent launch.

Licence Number 042

The SERC authorisation allows CXM to operate in Cambodia under the country's securities and derivatives rules. Alex Chua, Country Manager at CXM, said the approval supports the company's international growth strategy and that CXM intends to build its Cambodian operations "responsibly and transparently."

"We see strong potential in Cambodia and are committed to building a long-term presence in the market, with a clear focus on transparency, service quality and regulatory compliance," Chua added.

CXM joins a growing list of foreign brokers holding SERC approval. Golden FX Link became the first company to secure a licence in the country, obtaining both a central counterparty licence and a derivatives broker licence, Finance Magnates earlier reported. ATFX followed in March 2025 with Licence No. 040.

CXM's Licence No. 042 places it a few entries further along the same register, one that has widened considerably since 2017, when Finance Magnates reported that only around ten firms held a derivatives licence in the country.

Cambodia has a population of more than 15 million, with over half of it under the age of 25, and has seen steady economic development alongside improving digital infrastructure in recent years.

CXM already operates across several jurisdictions. Its London-based CXM Prime entity was authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority, while CXM Direct serves introducing brokers, money managers and API clients with multi-asset offerings spanning forex, metals and crypto CFDs. Cambodia becomes the latest addition to that footprint, with the company saying it will focus on client experience and compliance as it builds out local operations.

Gold's Weekend Rush

Separately, CXM has been expanding its instrument lineup. Its Gold 24/7 product, which allows continuous gold trading, including weekends when conventional markets are shut, drew around 500 traders in its opening weekend and reached $1 million in turnover within two weeks.

By the end of its first month, it had entered the platform's top 20 most traded instruments, with roughly 2,000 traders using it in August. That figure accounted for 2.6% of trading activity relative to crypto assets for the month, a share the company said may reflect heightened crypto interest during that period rather than a settled trend.

The move mirrors a wider industry push to keep gold accessible when spot and futures markets are shut. XM, Vantage and VT Markets have both rolled out similarly named XAUUSD247 products this year, CMC Markets has offered a weekend gold instrument since April, and LMAX Group has added round-the-clock gold exposure to its perpetual futures platform for institutional clients, Finance Magnates has reported.
