Revolut has appointed Nilesh Khatwani as Global Head of Institutional Sales, Crypto, hiring an executive with extensive institutional crypto sales experience.

London's trading industry is coming home!

His appointment comes as Revolut develops crypto products for companies and professional users and prepares to offer regulated virtual-asset services in Dubai.

Crypto.com Experience Carries Into New Role

Khatwani announced the move on LinkedIn, saying he would help grow Revolut’s institutional crypto business and contribute to building what he believes could become a leading institutional offering.

He moves from Crypto.com, where he worked since 2022 and progressed from Institutional Sales Manager to Director of Institutional Sales and then Global Head of Institutional Sales. That background matches the client segment covered by his new role.

Revolut has not disclosed Khatwani’s reporting line or provided further details about the size and structure of its institutional crypto sales team.

The company does not currently market a standalone institutional prime platform. Its public offering for companies is centred on Crypto for Business and Revolut X for Business.

The first allows businesses to buy, sell and hold digital assets as part of their corporate treasury operations. Revolut X for Business provides a spot-trading venue and advertises lower fees and spreads, analytical tools, and transfers between a company’s Business account and the exchange.

Khatwani described the institutional offering as something Revolut would be “building out.”

Neither his announcement nor Revolut’s public product materials specify whether the company plans to add services commonly associated with institutional prime platforms, including OTC execution, financing, derivatives or institutional lending.

Dubai Move Follows UAE Regulatory Approvals

Khatwani has also relocated from London to Dubai, where he will be based in the new role. He did not say whether the move was directly connected to Revolut’s planned UAE launch. However, the relocation comes after Revolut expanded its regulatory presence in the country.

In June, the company received Stored Value Facilities and Retail Payment Services licences from the Central Bank of the UAE, allowing it to proceed with its broader launch plans.

A month later, Dubai’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority granted Revolut in-principle approval for a Virtual Asset Service Provider licence covering broker-dealer, exchange, and management and investment services.

The crypto authorisation remains preliminary. Revolut said the contemplated services would be delivered through its retail app and Revolut X, subject to final regulatory approval, but it has not disclosed a launch date.
