MasterCard's MasterPass to take on Europe with Worldline

We here at Payment Magnates have discussed MasterCard’s MasterPass before. We have seen MasterCard partnering with processors, merchant service providers, and even seen them integrate MasterPass in to Emagazines to offer the first ever in-content purchasing platform.

Announced today, October 17, 2013 in France, MasterCard is partnering with Worldline to offer more extensive coverage of the payment option throughout Europe and Asia. Worldline, located in France in an Atos subsidiary, and is an industry leader in merchant and financial processing services. Worldline’s coverage ranges from France, Benelux, Germany, the UK, Spain, India and other Asian countries.

MasterCard’s one-click payment solution helps speed up the checkout process and supports a multitude of other credit and debit cards, not only MasterCard cards. It’s for these reasons that Worldline has decided to integrate the e-wallet into their platform. Faster and easier checkouts help with customer satisfaction, and its security features help with the conversion of turning website shoppers into buyers.

Beginning November 2013, MasterPass will be integrated in to Wordline’s E-commerce platform and it will be made available to thousands of merchants that currently use Worldline as their payment solution. MasterCard’s and Worldline’s partnership should help the service reach other outlets, and MasterCard expects to see a rise in interest and support in the beginning of 2014.

"As an Atos subsidiary specialized in electronic Payments and transactional services, our goal is to offer our clients a solution that will improve both online and offline shopping experiences. We share with MasterCard the same vision for the future of commerce, which implies innovative payment solutions.”_Xavier Brucker, Head of multichannel payments at Worldline.

This is the first step of the partnership, as Worldline, in addition to their extensive E-commerce platform, offers in store POS terminals, and plans to integrate MasterPass’ NFC based payment option throughout 2014.

"This partnership with a global leader such as Worldline will accelerate the adoption of MasterPass in France and in Europe, as it will increase the number of merchants adopting this practical, fast and secure solution.”_ Regis Folbaum, CEO of MasterCard France.

Expect to see MasterPass become more accepted in the coming months, as we can see that more and more processors and merchants are deciding to add it to their already accepted payment methods.
