  • The former risk officer departs just as the broker has acquired its MiCA licence.
  • It remains unclear who will replace Vasiliou, but the timing might suggest a growth-minded executive.
Trading.com, Georgios Vasiliou

Georgios Vasiliou, the chief executive of Trading.com, has departed the company, according to his LinkedIn profile. Trading.com is the sister brand of the retail brokerage giant XM.

Vasiliou spent five years at Trading.com, first as chief risk officer and later as chief executive. Previously, he worked at XM for seven years, rising from dealer to risk manager.

Trading.com declined to comment on his departure, and a successor has not yet been named.

MiCA-Regulated Crypto Coming Soon

The exit follows Trading.com's recent securing of its MiCA licence through the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).

A spokesperson for the firm's management team told Finance Magnates that the successful completion of the MiCA notification process "marks another important step in Trading.com’s long-term European growth strategy" towards "more trusted, transparent and regulated digital asset participation."

However, it remains unclear when and how Trading.com will offer its crypto products.

His departure, coming immediately after the MiCA notification was finalised, suggests the setup phase of Trading.com is complete. The broker may now be looking for a commercial growth-focused CEO to capitalise on the new licence.

It remains to be seen when and how Trading.com will deploy its new digital-asset credentials.

In Europe, the brand already offers crypto CFDs to its clients.
