Arriving at PayPal after a more than fifteen-year tenure at American Express, Mr. Parisi will be assuming a new leadership role in solidifying Paypal’s franchise in Canada, building on a successful 10-year legacy in the country. In addition, he will be tasked with attracting new business opportunities and bringing further innovations to the Canadian payment industry.

Paul had held various roles during his long tenure with the credit card provider, most recently as general manager of global commercial Payments at American Express Canada. His career encompassed other senior level stints across sales, account management, e-procurement and travel in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.

Parisi has a bachelor's degree from the University of Guelph in 1981. During his long career in the payment sector, dating back to 1995, he has showed a commitment to social good. That was reflected by his support to the United Way initiative and the Give2Gether American Express employee giving campaign, raising over $500,000 for charities across Canada.

According to Paul Parisi, the new GM of PayPal Canada, in a recent statement on the appointment: "The e-commerce, payments and Fintech industries are at an exciting juncture in Canada. I look forward to driving even more profitable growth for PayPal in Canada and adding greater value for our 6.4 million active customers in Canada, which includes 250,000 small business customers across the country."
