The global asset servicing arm of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, MUFG Investor Services, has announced today that it has added two new executives to its team. Oliver Scully has been appointed as the Head of EMEA Sales and David Sarfas as Global Head of Private Equity.
Both Scully and Sarfas will be based in the company’s London office. Sully will report to Mike McCabe, Managing Director, Global Head of Business Development, and Sarfas will be under John Sergides, Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
The appointment of Scully and Sarfas further shows that MUFG is committed to growing its Investor Services business. In recent years, the company has invested heavily in these sectors. One of the most notable appointments was in October last year when Ben Griffiths was made Managing Director, Global Head of Fund Financing.
Commenting on the new hires, John Sergides, said: “Oliver and David are dynamic additions to the team, bringing deep expertise in fund administration and transaction services, as well as in strategic development and finding solutions to suit clients’ needs.
“Their expertise will allow MUFG to strengthen its partnership with clients and help them meet changing regulatory requirements, increasing demands of investors, and needed operational efficiencies for the rapidly evolving alternative investment industry.”

In his new role, Scully will be primarily responsible for increasing the growth of MUFG’s asset servicing solutions in the EMEA region across private equity, real estate, hedge funds and fund of funds. The solutions he will be responsible for include fund administration, middle-office outsourcing, custody, depository, trustee, fund of hedge fund financing, foreign exchange and wider banking services.
Previously, Scully worked at Citco Fund Services, a subsidiary of Citco Group, for 14 years. Here he was a Managing Director responsible for sales and marketing for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Scully said both he and Sarfas were honored to join MUFG Investor Services: “MUFG has one of the industry’s best reputations for delivering a broad range of compelling solutions to some of the world’s premier alternative investment management firms.
“We have followed MUFG IS’ growth with interest over the years and look forward to helping strengthen the firm’s service offering and client relationships.”
Sarfas, on the other hand, joins the team with over 25 years of experience in private equity and real estate. At MUFG Investor Services, he will be responsible for increasing the market share of the company’s Private Equity and Real asset business.
Sarfas is also an acquisition from Citco Group, where he was the Managing Director, Head of Private Equity and Real Estate Europe. He joined the company in 2014. Before Citco, he served as alternative asset manager at both Houlihan Lokey, an independent global investment bank, and EY.
