Blockchain.com, a leading cryptocurrency services provider, said on Friday that it hired Marissa Brooks to lead its Global Sports and Entertainment Partnerships Strategy division.

According to the press release, Brooks is the Founder of 4WRD, and she will be responsible for ‘creating high impact, groundbreaking relationships with teams, leagues, athletes, entertainers and other personalities to support the crypto platform’s global growth.’

Her career began with the NBA’s Miami Heat, where she managed corporate partnerships for a decade. In addition to Hublot, she managed the team’s largest sponsors, including the Swiss brand’s North American entry.

Later, she joined LVMH’s Hublot in Switzerland, where she ran their sponsorship and events platform and led the first one-off licensing and luxury watch deal in the NBA. Having worked in over 16 countries around the world, she has mastered the art of merging local cultures and customs with brand objectives. She has negotiated and activated partnerships with Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Formula 1, FIFA and UEFA, as well as ambassadors such as Kobe Bryant, Usain Bolt, and Pelé, to name a few. Brooks moved the prestigious indoor equestrian competitor from Los Angeles to New York as CMO/Americas for Hublot.

Comments from the CEO

The focus of 4WRD is primarily on the intersection of sports and luxury. For example, Blockchain.com Miami Padel Open was recently produced for leading luxury brands and clients. A number of luxury brands are also clients of 4WRD, including Boich Investment Group and Australian Artist Tyson Beck. “As the Blockchain.com brand expands globally, we’re excited to work with a premiere sports and luxury marketer like Marissa. Her expertise crafting disruptive brand moments will help us develop stand-out partnerships globally. Marissa will help us bring partnerships to life in a big way as we continue to build the future of finance,” Peter Smith, the CEO and Co-Founder of Blockchain.com, stated.
