As reported in a press release shared with Finance Magnates, Melissa Downes, a creative and accomplished marketing and comms expert veteran with a track record in segmentation, has been onboarded by Invast Global, a multi-asset brokerage based in Sydney, as its new Global Head of Marketing.

Downes will head the Marketing team based in the company’s Sydney office. She brings a number of years of experience from her various roles in Marketing. She had previously also worked at a number of financial institutions in Australia including ANZ, NAB, and Zurich.

Glancing Back over Downes’ Career

Prior to the announcement by Invast Global, she spent a little time with BT in Australia as its Senior Manager of Communications, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Earlier on, MLC Australia benefitted from her experience as its Senior Marketing Consultant in Sydney. Initially, she was hired as a Take to Market Manager in July 2019. After a year, she received a promotion and was elevated to Senior Marketing Consultant where she spent a further fifteen months. Before that, ANZ recruited her as Content and Communications Manager. Part of her duties included the marketing management of campaigns and deliverables across the agile advice squad.

In May 2016, Zurich Insurance Company Ltd utilised her as its Marketing Manager. She spent her time ensuring the marketing strategy and comms complied to the requirements of a global financial institution and ensured all relevant compliance and approval procedures were met.

Additionally, Genworth hired her as its Marketing Manager at the beginning of 2015. Over eleven months, she accomplished the tasks of the role.

Also, she spent a little time at Washington Brown as its Marketing Director and fulfiled the needs of the position.

Her earliest known form of employment is for Time Warner as a Reporter, Journalist and Editor. She began this post in May 1996 in Australia.

An Appetite for International Expansion

Commenting on the announcement Gavin White, the CEO of Invast, said: “We are very excited to have found someone of Melissa’s calibre to fill the role of Global Head of Marketing. Her strong strategic mindset and breadth of experience across both marketing and financial services will enable Invast Global to take the next step in providing the best possible service and communication to our clients.”

“I’m excited by the opportunities I see at Invast Global and the talent it has attracted. This is a business that continues to grow with an appetite for international expansion.
