Crypto Facilities Ltd. has secured the services of Gary Worrall as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
According to a press release shared with Finance Magnates, Gary Worrall, with more than a decade of experience as a manager in Fintech and analysis, has joined the ranks of Crypto Facilities Ltd., a London-based cryptocurrency trading and index providing platform, as its new Chief Executive Officer and is a new member of its Board of Directors.
Worrall awaits the approval of the UK watchdog before he can start his position. He is taking over from his predecessor, Timo Schlaefer who plans to continue serving the Board as an advisor.
Looking Back at Worrall
In early 2018, Worrall joined Crypto Facilities Ltd. as Head of Operations. During this stint, he fulfilled the criteria and excelled in the role, paving the way forth.
Prior to his experience at Crypto Facilities Ltd, Smarkets took advantage of his skill set for almost five years. He began as a Business Analyst in June 2013 and proved to be more than adequate in the post. His successes led to him moving forward to the role of Head of Affiliates. And, in just over one year, he attained a position in Business Operations in the latter part of 2016.

Before working for Smarkets, Worrall served Horatio Investments as a Researcher on a short term contract. The project involved working on a start-up online graduate recruitment business, requiring extensive market research and competitor analysis.
Additionally, at Datasort Accountancy, he took on the responsibilities of Marketing Assistant back in September 2009. In this role, Worrall built relationships with accountants and customers to ensure projects met deadlines. In addition, he learnt how to present to various stakeholders as well as many other duties.
The Ideal Candidate
Timo Schlaefer said: “As the founder, the future of the company is obviously near to my heart. After building Crypto Facilities from the ground up and running it for almost 6 years, it’s the right time to take a step back from day-to-day operations. I will stay close to the business, and I look forward to supporting Gary and the team in my role as an advisor.”
Curtis Ting, Managing Director Europe at Kraken, the world’s largest global digital asset exchange based on euro volume and liquidity, said: “With Gary, we have the ideal candidate to further scale the business to meet the rapidly growing demand for regulated crypto trading instruments from institutional investors. With Crypto Facilities firmly established within Kraken, and the company entering its next growth phase, this was a natural moment for a leadership transition. Ever since founding the company in 2015, Timo has been a true pioneer in the crypto derivatives industry and the driving force behind turning Crypto Facilities into a world-leading cryptocurrency derivatives platform.”
“I’m incredibly excited to take on this new role at this pivotal moment in the company’s history. After obtaining a Multilateral Trading Facility license from the FCA and becoming Europe’s first regulated crypto futures venue, we’re ideally positioned to take advantage of growing institutional interest. This will allow us to further expand our product offering in a way that meets the high compliance standards our clients expect,” said Worrall.
