Nick Xydas has stepped down as Group Marketing Director at EC Markets after about two and a half years at the forex and contracts for differences (CFDs) broker. Neither his next position nor a successor has been disclosed.

Xydas announced the decision on LinkedIn, describing his tenure as an “incredible chapter.” He said EC Markets had almost no global marketing function or presence when he joined, while the company now has an established team, office and international brand.

“I could not be prouder of every single member of my team and what we achieved together,” Xydas wrote. He also thanked EC Markets CEO and Chairman Matthew Smith for trusting him from the start.

Liverpool FC Deal among Xydas’ Highlights

Xydas said bringing EC Markets and Liverpool FC together was one of the achievements he was most proud of. The broker signed a multi-year agreement with the English Premier League club in 2025, becoming its Official Global Partner.

The partnership formed part of a wider sponsorship-led marketing strategy under Xydas.

EC Markets has used sports partnerships and industry events to expand the broker’s visibility across international markets, with Xydas publicly discussing how sponsorships could support trust, market entry and commercial relationships.

Earlier this year, the broker added Nicholas McGregor as Sponsorship and Partnerships Manager in London. The former eToro executive’s remit includes activation and relationship management for the Liverpool FC partnership, alongside the company’s other sponsorship projects.

McGregor’s appointment assigns day-to-day responsibility for those projects, although EC Markets has not said who will take over Xydas’ broader global marketing remit.

Two Decades in Financial Marketing

EC Markets appointed Xydas as Marketing Director in 2024, when he said his objective was to help develop the broker into a global brand. He joined from Cyprus-based technology company Matworks, where he had served as Chief Marketing Officer for about a year.

His earlier career included almost three years at FXGT, initially as Marketing Technology Manager and later as Head of Business Development for its Japanese operation.

Xydas also spent about two years as Chief Marketing Officer at Eurotrader and three years leading marketing and communications at corporate services provider Totalserve Group.

His marketing and business leadership career dates back to 2004 and spans brokerage, financial services, payments, and technology companies.
