The Diem Association (Diem), the consortium led by Facebook, has secured the services of Christy Clark as Chief of Staff, effective immediately.

According to a press release shared with Finance Magnates, Clark, a demonstrated expert in global financial and regulatory issues, has been onboarded by Diem, an independent member organization developing a Blockchain -based payment system, as Chief of Staff to advance its mission.

Clark brings around twenty years of experience in national security and financial services. She has proven herself effective in the public and the private sectors in the US Department of Treasury and the US Senate.

Clark's Varied Background

Before Clark secured her position at Diem, she served as Chief of Staff at HSBC Holdings Plc in the Global Legal Department. In this role, she developed strategies for responding to high-profile legal, reputational, geopolitical and regulatory issues. Additionally, on a global level, she oversaw the legal department's advice on financial crime regulatory and enforcement related matters.

Additionally, as Chief Operating Officer at HSBC from August 2012, she effectively executed the management of the operations and internal communications of the department. This included over a thousand employees in fifty jurisdictions.

Earlier to HSBC, this demonstrated leader was a Principal at Podesta Group, a public affairs firm in Washington DC. Here, Clark developed government relations and communication strategies for multinational corporate clients in Finance, Defence and Energy.

Prior to being a Principal, she was Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the US Department of Treasury. For four and a half years, she coordinated the development and implementation of financial strategies to combat national security threats.

Moreover, at the Office of Senator Jon Kyl, Clark successfully fulfilled the role of Foreign Policy and Defence Advisor.
