BlackBull Markets, an executing broker for foreign exchange (forex), contracts for difference (CFDs) and commodities, has secured a new managing director for its operations in China, Finance Magnates has learned.
Taking on the position is Sophie Squillacioti, a professional with more than 15 years of experience in the forex industry, with a focus on China and the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The move was made public via her LinkedIn profile, which said she joined the broker in July of this year.

Speaking to Finance Magnates, Squillacioti said: "The principals at BlackBull, Michael, Sam and Selwyn, have assembled an amazing organization out of New Zealand. Right from first meeting them, I was impressed by what they had built organically and what their plans were.
"Bringing over a sales team of industry veterans, some of them have worked with me for 14 years, is the best of both worlds; a fresh new offering and a crew of seasoned professionals who know how to position it in one of the most challenging markets."

Squillacioti joins the New Zealand-headquartered broker with extensive experience, having worked for a number of brokers during her career.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Squillacioti is a: “P.R.C based Executive with over 15 years’ experience on the ground driving retail and channel sales in Greater China and APAC; with a proven track record of generating tens of thousands of clients and thousands of channel partners.
“I have in-depth operational knowledge across the financial industry and have built teams of sales and operations from 20-100+ through organizations ranging from start-up/entrepreneurial ventures to industry top-tier publicly traded enterprises.”
During her career, Squillacioti has held a number of FX-focused roles. In addition to the ones mentioned above, she has also been a managing director, head of China and APAC sales for City Index and Vice President, Head of China for IFX Markets Ltd.
In February 2004, Squillacioti started her career in the industry, working for CBFX as a Sales Associate, her LinkedIn states. The company was a third-party provider of FX management services to Commerce Bank & Trust. In 2005, the company was acquired by IFX Markets Ltd.
