To enhance its position in Asia, Barclays announced today that it has appointed Carrie Chen and Raymond Yu as Co-Heads of Investment Banking, Greater China. The newly appointed Co-Heads will facilitate the bank’s already expanding investment banking division in Greater China.

Based in Hong Kong, one of the world’s largest financial hubs, both Carrie and Yu will report to Vanessa Koo, Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific, at Barclays. The financial services provider has announced several management changes in the past 12 months.

With a focus to build a strong presence in China, Barclays announced the appointment of Angela Liu as the Country CEO in October last year. Ee Ching Tay, the former Managing Director and Head of Southeast Asia M&A at JPMorgan, joined Barclays in June 2021 as the Head of Southeast Asia Banking.

“Both Carrie and Raymond are seasoned bankers with a proven and consistent track record in Greater China deal-making, coupled with their strong leadership experience and complementary backgrounds. It gives me great pleasure to elevate top talent and to appoint them as my successor to lead Greater China Investment Banking,” says Vanessa Koo, the Head of Investment Banking, Asia Pacific. “I have worked closely with Carrie and Raymond over the years to drive our Greater China business, and I am confident that the duo is well-positioned to take on this exciting opportunity.”
